 On Monday, by which it means normal time today, I will have my first transfer orientation as a part of the school quarter at UCSC. 

I've also finished my first weekend of work, in which the dining halls are opened only on this one weekend until it's become regular scheduling for monday to friday. I get to chop vegetables, help serve food on the line, and clean up the salad bar and clean floors. Menial labor work, but one I'm somewhat familiar with having had restaurant experience. It's kinda like working at Cold Stone Creamery, but with a whole army of people knowing what to do and a different set of standards.

And a whole lot of hand washing. So much hand washing. 

Late nights actually feel like late nights. Staying up to 1 AM now has felt weird because I'm not doing this at home; I'm doing this in a strange city where the traffic conforms to the land and the bus schedule is unfamiliar. It's a downtown with like 10 different yoga studios on main street, and I have yet to find one computer store or electronics store, but it has THREE BOOKSTORES and one (tiny in comparison) comic book shop. 

I am unfamiliar with all hobos here, and bars are commonplace. 

Also, I'm pretty sure UCSC is like Balamb Garden. It's like 10 colleges that are gathered in one loop of a forest, and so there's like ten sections of a circle or something. I dub my dining hall to be the Hot Dog cafeteria and my residence is Balamb town. Also, my affiliated college, Kresge, shall be known as the Training Center. Because it's rather wooded. I expected pelting off Grats and fleeing from T-Rexaur.
