Big news to catch up. For one thing: I graduated college! I now have not only two AA degrees in Philosophy and English, but also two BAs in Philosophy and World Literature + Culture (Literature)!
Behold my graduation picture!

So I went home for a week and then came back up to the college town where I'm staying at my friend's apartment to fill in for someone's lease. I like the housemates a lot and it feels more homey compared to living on campus, though the place could use some work. Been helping to clean the dwelling for the first few days and I think I've gotten down to making my niche here.
Doing the job hunt now, but I got hired to work at the candy shop in the boardwalk. That means selling taffy made in-house to screaming tourists and children for all who would like to have some freshly made candy made in front of their eyes. Cue flashbacks to working at Cold Stone Creamery five years ago, but the upside is that the manager is a lovely person and she seems to have a great handle of things. Though I might be tempted to just work full time there, I'm still passing out resumes for other restaurants- namely bars, and preferably bars by the beach so I can get those thirsty people summer tips- and also looking around for potential entry-level work to do.
So this summer, alongside working, I'm to try to finish a few projects for myself. One is to teach myself coding, brushing up on HTML and CSS and hopefully moving up to other levels of coding so that I could apply to some vocational programs I'm thinking of going to. Another is to see if i can get better at being multilingual, starting with brushing up on my Chinese. I haven't mentioned it before, but my grandmother has passed away back in May around the 20th in Guangzhou where she was hospitalized for a couple of weeks. What really gets me feeling heavy was that i just missed the moment when she passed on facetime, but her health was slowly declining so it was just a moment of time. What really killed me is seeing my grandfather living in the apartment by himself just last week. He seems pretty cheerful now, but he's not really the sociable type which my grandmother did to make sure family overseas like myself would still feel connected to them.
man, why can't there just be Cantonese schools around here.
