What's new that's worth recording:
I once again botched my next assignment on History of Western Civilization, leaving me a stressed-out, nervous wreck. But that's a thing of the past, as in a couple of weeks ago, and if I do fine this last assignment and the research paper, then maaaaaybe I can pass the class. I need to. That 'F' will be eliminated.
In slightly better news, I saw the musical of "Beauty and the Beast" at the Granada theater. There were throes of children dressed up in their fancy ware and many unashamed fans of Disney. As expected, I saw people from my high school including any teachers and old classmates who are still in the area. I really did like the musical; good vocals, great choreography, excellent sets and costumes but here's my caveat:
I was assistant director for my last high school musical during senior year; I had to know all the lines and songs and choreography that my droning theater teacher told me to take note. Because it's Disney's product, our rendition of the show has to be as accurate as possible to the actual Broadway production. As a result, I recognized a lot of things from the musical I saw at the Granada last Wednesday. Almost too much for my comfort. I mean, aside from the fact that it's a well-paid and more professional production there's very little variation from my high school's version. Maybe I was hoping for larger sets (they may be prettier and well-built, but our's were bigger and about as elaborate). Maybe I was hoping for acting that suited to my needs, because it was glaringly obvious that everything the actors did catered to the children audience. There were a lot of funny moments.
Maybe it was the fact that it was the fact that it was a bunch of adults instead of high schoolers playing a kiddie play that it seemed to make the musical be just that: a kiddie play.
I don't know. I think the real reason was that I've been reading more adult fairy tales like from Angela Carter's "The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories." Well, I enjoyed it and I got great souveniers out of it.
BTW: New laptop! HP Pavilion with i5 processor and LED screen. It came to be because in a fit of rage while doing my history assignment I smashed my netbook like the Incredible Hulk. It was quite a scene.
