 Probably the worst weekend ever as a Santa Barbarian far away from home. 

No one I know is among them, but both my parents work at UCSB and I have a lot of friends who had lived/are living in IV, so... I'm dwelling in what-ifs.

Thanks, KJ. I actually thought at first that the incident happened on the actual campus so I had a brief panic over my parents who work there as staff.

Man, I'm kinda a little miffed that when I asked they were all calm and normal about it, like gosh family this isn't a casual call.

My friends for the most part are all right, though I haven't really looked at the whole social network of my friends possibly knowing anybody involved. Still, I get chills knowing that the dude was contemplating going to SBCC instead of Isla Vista for his rampage.

Thanks, Drak. I'm happy that my family and friends are all right, but you know... It's just one of those things where you can really imagine that anybody close were involved if any one kind of permutation of the events transpired got numbered in.

Thanks, Sathari. The whole thing hits a bit too close to home for me to really distance myself, and so far my friends and family are unaffected by it. But I avoided going on FB because, I dunno, I just don't know how anyone else is going to take it, especially since I know that a lot of them live in that area at one point or another.
