I had a horrible day evening last. There was much shouting and crying involved. It sucked.

Today made up for all the crappiness of last night. I met up with my friend Erin, whom I've known since senior year high school, and we hanged out at the local comic book shop with her brother talking about Dark Horse comics and 1980s comics. She then brought me over to a spiritual book store where she picked out my belated birthday present, The Handbook of Tarot I believe it was called, and we had lunch at Crushcake Bakery and Cafe. Excellent servings there; not too much and just enough food to fill up. The cupcakes were very much worth the time walking up and down State St.

We then rode to the next town over to the shopping center close to where I live and watched the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" movie.

I really liked it a lot! I felt that the pacing was good; there was never a dull moment. There was good plot without it feeling too ridiculous. I had some cringe moments in part of the film, because I keep expecting some sort of reenactment of chimpanzee horror stories where someone's face would get ripped off or something similar. Like a pulled limb or mauling. But the film didn't really contain that, so I was pleased.

The ending kind of depressed me a bit.

I haven't really watched any of the Planet of the Apes films. I've only seen bits of stuff from when the movies would show up on television when I was younger. Didn't remember too much of it. I did get the gist of the franchise, likely due to the osmosis effect of popular culture, but after watching this movie I wanted to watch all the rest. Including the Tim Burton one.
