I also play XIII-2

The Vile Peaks in XIII-2 reminded me that I had shipped Lightning and Sazh pretty astutely until the XIII game revealed how much less cutscenes and interaction they actually have together 8'D.
Screw it, Lightning/Sazh will always be my XIII OTP.

Date: 2013-04-30 02:16 am (UTC)Vile Peaks was that pivotal moment for both of them when their groups separated into their own thing (Snow sorta didn't seem to count in that 'left for dead' kinda way).
Lightning depends on him to keep the group cohesive in the more innate way than Snow's idealistic leadership thing. Kinda like Laguna in Duodecim.
(Haaalp, my post-Duodecim fic includes meeting up with Sazh [and a bunch of other airship pilot people >.>] and having him converse with Laguna....)

Date: 2013-04-30 02:20 am (UTC)I AM SORRY DID YOU JUST PUT SAZH AND LAGUNA IN THE SAME SENTENCE
BECAUSE I'VE BEEN FULLY DISTRACTED FROM YOUR OTHER GOOD POINTS BY THIS
I really wanted Sazh to be in dissidia, Nomura, what happened?
Date: 2013-04-30 02:40 am (UTC)But I digress.
Laguna would ask Sazh about how a ship flies in the Rift as Sazh steers ("Hey hey, I get enough pestering from those bunch of crooks at my back") and Lightning and Dajh bond over how cute Dajh is being and Lightning just indulges him because he's Dajh.

Date: 2013-04-30 11:40 am (UTC)Faris and Setzer and Balthier can gamble in the background (they continue to bet their ships to each other; vessels change hands 1,826 times in one game but they all end up with their own ships at the end, only drunker)
I seriously now need Laguna and Sazh bonding likens. It doesn't even have to be Dissidia, I am game with a crossover where Sazh is hired as Laguna's pilot and Lightning is his bodyguard or something and shenanigans because Laguna and I AM DYING

Date: 2013-04-30 02:21 am (UTC)What I love about them is that Lightning is the leader and Sazh is Team Dad, so they complement each other while still being on the exact same path. It's complementing without being "opposites" -- they work together because they are two different sentences on the same page.

Date: 2013-04-30 02:49 am (UTC)And suddenly I want him and Lightning to be former police partners where she's the rising star from the Academy and he's this early retiree cop whom she felt kinda bailed on her while she ruthlessly FIGHTS CRIME, and then there's Jihl Nabaat being this Upper Management Police Corrupt Lady of Bureaucratic Malfeasance who Sazh knows is up to no good but she strings him along in the cases he works on. And then there's Yaag Rosch who just tries *so hard* to be the upright Sergeant but he's just one other guy fighting the system of a gangster police force and man, it's not the beat anymore Yaag, so wake up!
And then Hope's dad is this super cool DA who is good friends with Sazh, but then Nora got MURHDURED and Hope is suddenly left to his own devices and it's all connected to those anti-establishment college protestors NORA headed by some loudmouth Snow Villiers and who the heck are these two ladies running around in weirdo clothes?

Date: 2013-04-30 11:43 am (UTC)Also um, for real? I have not played XIII-2 yet (don't worry; already spoiled and loving it) but that's the most amazing thing.
I am now picturing Lightning and Sazh basically as Turks but with more detectiving
