zen_monk Not-yet-college is going to a bar with a bunch of pool tables and having a cool table and having good times, like ordering a White Russian or a mystery bacardi cocktail and getting slumpy buzz.
Encroaching-college is knowing from your mandatory transfer student meeting is telling you that for each unit you gotta study three hours for each one a week, so for 15 units, you gotta do 45 hours a week of studying, and so I divide my time to being like "oh, I guess it's 6 hours a day of studying" plus work and then what semblance of social life and then rebellious PSP playing hours....
...More cocktails for me until Thursday, I guess.
But I did get my textbooks! And they were reasonably priced. Also, waiting for when other textbooks would show. Then I contemplated getting an iPad mini before putting myself through guilt of spending money that isn't mine and yeesh I do that very efficiently.
And a cute laptop/carry bag for stuff. But UCSC is so Balamb Garden it's not funny there's a huge forest with fornicating deer in the middle of it, and I was like "where's Kresge college" and critical thinking made me think, " wait it can't be on this bridge away from the road" and suddenly I miss the ease of access that SoCal ocassionally has.
Trees, man. Full of deer and narrow driving lanes where nary a bus can fit through easily.
